1) I start weeding and Parker starts pulling the blossoms off our cucumber plant. I tell him to stop.
2) Parker starts throwing rocks at me. I tell him to please stop or he will need to sit in time out.
3) I am weeding, weeding, weeding . . . kids are quiet. At the exact moment I look up because I'm wondering why they are so quiet, I hear a little giggle coming from Parker. Kambri's car seat is full of dirt, Kambri's cute little sun dress is covered in dirt, and she has dirt on her face. Parker has a huge smile and Kambri is looking up at him sweetly.
4) I send Parker to sit on the steps, I clean out the car seat, brush the dirt off Kambri, look for my misplaced glove, and finally tell Parker he can leave the steps. I firmly tell him that we don't throw rocks or dirt.
5) I'm weeding, weeding, weeding. Parker picks me some "flowers" from our grass and brings them to me one by one . . . very sweet of him.
6) I'm weeding, weeding . . . I look up and Parker has a handful of dirt held over Kambri's car seat and he is looking at me smiling. I tell him if he drops the dirt, he will go sit on the steps for a long time . . . he drops the dirt . . . he does a fancy little run back to the steps and sits down.
7) I clean the dirt off again. I go back to weeding. Parker attempts to get up and I keep telling him he needs to sit for a while longer.
8) I notice that some of the plants are looking quite dry. I wonder if the sprinklers have been missing them. I grab the hose and drag it to the garden to water. I tell Parker he can leave the steps. Parker runs to the garden because the hose can only mean fun. I water the plants and spray Parker with the hose . . . he loves it, Kambri starts screaming. I peek into her car seat and her little face is covered with water and this water was COLD. Yep, somehow I sprayed my 3 month old baby with cold water from a hose.
9) Feeling horrible, I wipe Kambri off and calm her down. I wind up the hose to put back by the house. I turn back toward the garden and Parker is prancing around in the mud that I just made by watering the plants.
10) I give up on weeding.
And that is why my garden is still full of weeds. It's looking better, but it's still full of weeds. So if anyone decides to pay me a visit, please don't think less of me because of my disgraceful garden . . . I'm trying.

lol! I'm laughing because I can so relate! Good luck!
Oh Candace, you poor thing!! That is so funny though! That little stinker! Parker sure is a fun one it sounds like! :) If I didn't have a screaming demanding child myself I would offer to come pull your weeds for you :) And we don't think any less of you because of your weed-filled garden...I don't think any mother could.
LOL LOL......so, you probably weren't laughing, but that was a HILARIOUS post.....I'm sorry about the weeds...but you are a trooper for trying to get rid of them!
I was laughing so hard and then I would read further and laugh some more...all at your expense. That isn't nice of me!!! hahaha!! I can laugh though because this is why my house was always dirty after Morgan was born. With three kids 3 and under, you can believe that someone was always up to something. Hence...i hired a cleaning lady and will resume cleaning my own house when it doesn't take the whole week because I have to stop 100 times to do something else.
What a great story. . .isn't that the way it goes! And if it makes you feel any better, at least you are motivated enough to even have a garden. . .Kudos to you!
p.s. I'm so excited about Scott being home. . .how fun!
Thanks for the smile!
This is hilarious. Parker sounds like a spunky little guy--just like I like 'em. I'm glad my garden isn't the only weed-infested one.
