Our little Rudolph

The other day I was practicing the piano, trying to get ready to play a song for a group of women who would be singing in church on Sunday.  Kambri was sitting on the floor next to me and Parker was in the other room watching Dinosaur Train, or so I thought.  In reality, he had found a red Sharpie marker.  I walked into the other room and saw Parker with the red art on his face my first thought was, "Oh darn, but that is kind of a funny picture for Christmas" . . . until I saw THIS:

And suddenly all happy Christmas thoughts left my mind.  Yep, that is our leather couch (okay, actually imitation leather, but you get the point).  I looked at it and slowly said, "ohhhhhh, noooooooo."  Without having to say another word, Parker turned around and went up to his room and sat on his bed . . . I think he sensed I that things would go much better if he left the area.

I quickly ran Kambri up to her crib for her nap and then I frantically started looking on-line for ways to get permanent marker out of leather furniture.  After a few minutes of searching and a phone call to my sister-in-law Jenny (thanks for the help Jenny!), I stared working on it.  I used cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, and hairspray and after two straight hours or cleaning I ended up with this:

And this:

It's not perfect, especially if you look closely, but I'm okay with it and at least we don't have to buy new furniture.  As for Parker, he punished himself by staying in his room for about an hour.  We had a little talk and I put all the Sharpie markers far above his reach.

Not to be left out of this post is our little sweetheart:

This is how her hair looks when I get her up in the morning.  So fun!!

Haaaaaaaaaaaa I love that Parker colored his own nose too. I wonder what kids are thinking when they draw on couches and on their face. Hilarious!

Oh, and Kambri's hair looks just like mine in the morning! I feel instantly bonded to her and I've never even met her.

What a good mom. Your reaction was a very patient one. And as for Parker, I am sooooo impressed that he took himself to his room and that he stayed there for an hour! We struggle with a 1 minute time-out on the couch. Fortunately we don't have to do it very often.
